It's Dry Season

After sitting down yesterday and realizing that I actually have a lot of work to do if I want to get all of my grad school work done on time, I had to make a decision: spend more time on that or spend more time on this.

I clearly chose the former. With that said, this blog isn't dead. It will never die like rock and roll. I will continue to post, but it will be at a much more sporadic rate, not to suggest that I was kicking out posts with great efficiency before. I will hopefully be able to pick up more sustained blogging again in the beginning of 2008 when I'm finally done with putting in applications and taking pointless standardized tests.

And, to leave you with something more pointless, this is the video for Make Em Say Ugh by Master P, possibly one of the tackiest and, for certain, the most poorly rapped video of all-time. The only thing that is impressive about this video is the fact that Shaq was allowing himself to be connected to it. Actually, that's not really surprising as this is the same man who made Shazaam.

There's not a lot going on today, so I'm going to take that as a sign and sort of sign out for the day. Before I went left, I wanted to post this link to the GREATEST LAWSUIT OF ALL TIME. Seriously, this one is a gem. Peace.

I Can't Do It

When it takes me fifteen minutes to come up with quips and I'm sidetracked easily (today, I'm reading about funk carioca, which sounds like slowed down Miami Bass with more ridiculous production and a hip-hop sensibility that Miami Bass lacks), that means things aren't going well for me. Luckily for me, nothing is really going on in the world today, so I can take some time off. Anyway, read this article from New York about how your favorites from Project Runway and Top Chef (read: Harold and Ilan) are doing. Short, and totally misleading, summary: everyone but Jay McConnell is doing pretty well. Actually, a clear sign that things aren't going well for me today, it's taken me half an hour to write this post. My point exactly.

Day Out

I need to run errands and get out of my house, so I'm not blogging today. If you need news, I direct you to Google News. If you need witty banter, send me an email, and I'll come up with a series of one-liners and subtle burns for all of your reading pleasure. If you need sexing, you should probably call David Vitter. Infrastructure

The cable news has not stopped covering the story all day. As it turns up, the bridge was considered structurally deficient and it's not the only one. Also, the further problem is that the state of Minnesota AND the Federal Government both knew that this bridge was faulty. That's a pretty big deal. Is it all day coverage important? I still say no, but that is a huge problem that should have been addressed by the states in appropriate time. This is the new Katrina or East Coast Blackout, whichever is more relevant to you (I'm going with Katrina. The whole Black people thing and a good friend of mine from college is from the Big Easy. And I didn't get any adverse effects of the blackout). We all want changes to be made, promises will be made to make change, but nothing will happen to the detriment of the dead and the citizens of this country. This fact is the saddest tragedy of all. Well, that and the fearmongering being done by all of the other 24 hour news channels. Frankly, as much of this as I watch, I have no idea of how I function as a person because I should be scared of everything.

Anyway, I'm done here. There is nothing else really going happening today aside from covering the bridge collapse. Hopefully, the regular news cycle will start again so I can stop having wall-to-wall coverage while my government falls apart due to ineptitude and lack of funds due to a war.

I have been listening to the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion since I was around 13 or 14. They produced, without question, one of my favorite albums in Orange. While the title track is hot, this is the opener which is equally awesome, amazing, and explanatory of the entire JSBX project.

Slowly Approaching 300

I'm nearing post 300. As of this post, I'm only 5 away. I might be able to do them tonight, but I'm going to take lunch and clean myself. Yes, the glamorous life of blogging. In the meantime, while you are doing something more substantial with your time, I'll leave you with this video of the Brian Jonestown Massacre live. I'm still trying to figure out how to make ogg vorbis into a format that my iPod can read, but once I do, it's so on. Afternoon in Bed

There isn't a lot going on today, and I have to cook. I will leave you with this for now. It is North by North from the seminal New Zealand band The Bats. They are really awesome. The title of this post is an allusion to them as well. It's a great song, but there is no video for it. Anyway, dig it.
